The ABCs of Bus Stop Safety
While the school bus is one of the safest vehicles on the road, children are most at risk when approaching and leaving the bus. Teach them these safety rules.
Arrive 5 minutes early and wait 10 feet from the curb.
Board only when the bus has stopped, and the driver says go.
Cross safely when you exit by looking left-right-left.
Drop something near the bus? Don’t retrieve it. Ask the driver for help.
Ensure the bus driver sees you – stay 10 feet in front of the bus.
For safety, never walk behind the bus.
