NASCAR DRIVER ROSS CHASTAIN TO JOIN THE DELAWARE OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY IN RAISING AWARENESS FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING PREVENTION

July 14, 2025

Delaware Office of Highway Safety

Ross Chastain and OHS to partner for two community engagement events to educate Delawareans on the dangers of impaired driving.

WHAT:
The Delaware Office of Highway Safety is continuing the annual partnership with NASCAR driver Ross Chastain to raise awareness for the “Use Your Melon” campaign, which encourages people to not drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Between 2020 and 2024, Delaware experienced 688 crashes resulting in fatalities or serious injuries. Of those 688 crashes, 38% involved impairment from either drugs or alcohol. That’s more than 200 crashes that could have been prevented.

On Thursday, July 17, OHS and Ross will attend the Delaware State Fair’s opening day. From noon to 8 p.m., Delawareans can stop by the OHS engagement booth to learn more about the consequences of driving under the influence, participate in educational demonstrations and activities, and test their knowledge with trivia challenges. From 5 to 7 p.m., Ross will join OHS at the booth, signing autographs for supporters and fans.

On Friday, July 18, the partners will continue their event schedule at Grotto Pizza in Dover, where they will again be engaging Delawareans with educational demonstrations and trivia. Ross will sign autographs between 4 and 6 p.m.

WHEN:

Thursday, July 17, from noon to 8 p.m. Ross will sign autographs from 5 to 7 p.m.

Friday, July 18, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Ross will sign autographs from 4 to 6 p.m.
