DELAWARE OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY “SOBER RIDES” RETURNS TO SUPPORT SAFER TRAVEL DURING THE JULY FOURTH HOLIDAY
$20 ride-share vouchers for Lyft and Uber will be available to Delawareans beginning at noon on Friday, July 4.
WHAT: The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) Sober Rides program continues this July Fourth, giving Delawareans the opportunity, and incentive, to ensure their holiday celebrations include safe travel on roadways statewide. Through the initiative, OHS encourages all Delawareans to be proactive when planning holiday activities by obtaining ride-share vouchers of up to $20 for Lyft or Uber. People can begin claiming their voucher codes as early as 8 a.m. on July 4 by visiting MySoberRides.com. Downloaded vouchers can then be redeemed between noon on Friday, July 4, and 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5.
By offering Delaware residents a convenient and low-cost option for travel to and from July Fourth celebrations, OHS aims to reduce fatalities and crashes that involve driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. OHS is promoting the availability of the ride-share vouchers — along with messaging to encourage their use — via social media and online advertising, as well as in bars and restaurants. Partners will share posters, table tents, and business cards. In addition, the weekend prior to July Fourth, OHS street teams will be at strategic locations to engage Delawareans in learning more about the program and to provide a demonstration on how to download and access their vouchers.
July Fourth wraps up a strong season for the Sober Rides program. The 2024-2025 season encompassed Thanksgiving Eve, New Year’s Eve, and St. Patrick’s Day—and to date, has provided more than 600 Delawareans with a safe ride home. Current Sober Rides sponsors include our top sponsor, Breakthru Beverage Delaware, as well as Blue Hen Insurance, Preston Automotive Group, The Starboard, M Insurance Services, Land Rover Wilmington, Liquid Alchemy, Big Fish Restaurant Group, Allstate, the Delaware Blue Coats, Grotto Pizza, State Farm, and One Day At A Time Gift Shop.
WHEN: Friday, July 4, 2025, at noon, to Saturday, July 5, at 3:30 a.m.
MORE INFORMATION:
Lyft and Uber ride-share vouchers will be offered statewide. Delawareans can find information on how to download them at MySoberRides.com as well as via social media, online advertising, and materials distributed by local businesses and community partners.
